Some of Hollywood's favorite character actors show up in this film which is one of the reasons it's such a favorite. Nevertheless he does meet the girl of his dreams, Gene Tierney, and while she kept him on the straight and narrow, it wasn't without a look here and there to the side.
We see Don Ameche at the various stages of his life during this film and the picture we get of him is a very decent man, but one who could not resist a pretty face or a pretty ankle, depending on which order he noticed them.
